Okay. You know the idea that Elvis never died, he just went back to the alien planet he came here from? Get into the mindset that that's real. It's totally not. I mean, I think it isn't. I dunno. I haven't been doing this long. Just think along those lines for a second.

The Divisma is… I mean, I guess it's sort of a process more than the end result of itself. It's a Spectre that is capable of inhabiting humans that meet very specific criteria. We're not sure how much the host human needs to be "eligible" for the Divisma to occur to them so much as that they need to "do" the Divisma in order for its effects to take hold.

Hang on, that sounded weird. Take two.

The Divisma is a White-level Spectre that is seen through the effects that it has on humans. Particular humans. You know all of the Divisma's previous hosts, because the nature of the Divisma is that it makes its hosts famous. But also they're usually already famous before the Divisma takes

One more try. I'm going to make sense of this, I swear. I never said I was a very good clerk.

It's Beyoncé. The Divisma is currently contained inside of Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter. She has it, or it has her. We're not sure which one exactly.

Whatever the relationship is between the Divisma and its hosts, the end result is that whomever is inhabited by the Divisma will, for some period of time, be known broadly throughout the Western world as a singer of unparalleled ability, by some varied definition. We don't yet know if the Divisma provides special talent that leads to fame, or if the host's talent draws in the Divisma and that's where the fame comes from.

Public attitudes towards the Divisma and its (universally female) host will border on worship; this is how its hosts can be identified. The host will develop a fanbase almost rabid in its devotion to their diva, traveling far and wide and paying almost any price to see her perform.

Background: We at Alphabet Unlimited1 have researched those artists in the Western world whose following has been… a little maniacal. Now, I've been told that one of the higher-up Warders in the Alphabet have done some research suggesting some kind of connection between Bes, the Egyptian goddess of midwifery and music, and our Divisma here. I don't know how strong that connection is. Sounds sort of fishy to me.

Location and Population: There's only one Divisma that we know of. Of course, that's us assigning a name to the one phenomenon that we actually know about. There could be a hundred of these things around, subtlely influencing the world, a whole species of divine muses or lightning rods for fame or whatever.

As for her location, it appears to be localized on Beyoncé, according to Ms. Janet's most recent intel. Her whereabouts are usually pretty publicly known.

Hunting or Procurement Methods: So far, the only thing we know is that the Divisma can move from one Diva to another once supremacy is clearly established. As best we can tell, the Divisma moved from Amy Jade Winehouse to Beyoncé on or around October 13, 2008. Winehouse may have taken, or contracted, the Divisma away from Christina Aguilera, though interviews are still being conducted.

Encounter Records: Ms. Janet located an interview between Beyoncé and Oprah in 2013 as a part of "Oprah's Next Chapter" series on OWN; this was the last interview granted by Beyoncé to any media sources. This is how Alphabet Unlimited became aware of the Divisma. Beyoncé's handlers made sure the actual footage of this appearance was kept back; the interview was re-recorded with somewhat more… acceptable answers. But a tape of the recording was retained by a paid informant on the Alphabet roster, someone who worked in the editing bay. Transcription of the recovered videotape follows:

Footage begins with the "Oprah's Next Chapter" opening montage. Montage fades to a closeup on Oprah's face.

Oprah Winfrey: I have to ask you this: how on Earth — and when I had a conversation with Justin Bieber not too long ago, and I was saying to him "look, I am really, I am concerned, because… how do you figure out who you are, when you're in this… this prism, of fame?"

Beyoncé Knowles-Carter: I mean, that is really something that used to… that used to haunt me. I struggled with this business, you know? First I struggled with the music, and then I struggled with the industry, and then I struggled with the politics. But you know, at some point, I just felt all of that weight lift off of me, you know? It came on real suddenly, right around when the video for "Single Ladies" came out. I started feeling — almost like everything reduced to just the music. Like the music could lift me up beyond the struggles, beyond the pain.

Oprah: You know, one of the things that you talk about that I think, you know, that I could talk to you for hours about, that I thought was so smart for you to bring up at this time about trying to balance, trying to stay current, being relevant, being on the cutting edge, all of the things that are important if you're going to be in the culture, and then how much of yourself to give away, did you think that Life is But a Dream is your way of saying "all right, here I am"?

Beyoncé: I mean, I know what you mean, but at this point, I don't… I don't feel like I balance anything anymore. Everything just seems so natural now. There's nothing left but the music anymore. I used to get so stressed about the money or the politics or my look or whatever. Nowadays, it's like I just find myself on stage, and I step out, and I open my mouth and…

Oprah: I know it, girl, you are just an absolute legend on your —

Beyoncé: — VOICES RISE!

[Beyoncé's mouth appears to be singing, with several voices in harmony coming from her mouth in response at once.]

[Pause for some seconds. Oprah is startled by the outburst. Beyonce's eyes are wide but not tracking Oprah, or anything else in particular. Beyoncé begins to sweat.]

Oprah: Uh… I mean, girl, that's the attitude to have when the world is —

Beyoncé: — VOICES RISE, MORTAL! THE WORLD OBEYS! THE WORLD BENDS TO US!

[Oprah is silently staring at Beyoncé, whose complexion is turning red and whose skin is beginning to visibly glow with an indirect light.]

Beyoncé: THE LIVING DIVA SPEAKS, MORTAL! THE LION SHINES AND ITS ROAR BLINDS! USE YOUR MAGIC EYES TO SHOW US TO ALL THE WORLD! USE YOUR MAGIC EARS TO SPREAD OUR SONG!

[Beyoncé's eyes begin to bleed.]

Beyoncé: I AM WHAT THE DEAD HEAR WHOM THE GODS DEEM WORTH—

[Videotape ends. The informant who was present for these events testified that the cameras suffered major technical failures and began to smoke. Beyoncé was whisked away by handlers. She and Oprah met again two days after this interaction, where Beyoncé apologized and her doctors gave Oprah some sort of medical justification for her behavior.
